The Thing My Heart Yearns For

I have been so excited to show you this all week! I was smiling the whole time I was making it. GLEE-ful even. (The Glee premiere is getting so close!! I'm itching with anticipation!)

Okay, sorry for that distraction. Back to the thing I'm excited to share.

You know how I love London, right? (Side note: I love London.)

I keep asking myself the same question over and over. "Self, what can we make that captures your love for all things England and Britain but is completely useful and functional in your small apartment?"

And the answer: this!

On one side - the Union Jack. On the other side - a checker board.

Antiqued slightly to give the impression it's well loved.

Because it is well loved in my heart. I've been dreaming of this for a while.

It's one part art and one part CHECKERS GAME!!!

Now, who wants to play me in a game of checkers? I have to win the first game on my own board. That's just the rule. :)

Kimberly, this is just flippin' awesome!!!! Genius to combine the two and both sides look terrific!!! Way to think outside the {British} box!!! I saw some really cute fabric-covered boxes at Marshall's over the weekend with the Union Jack design on the lid - tres cool! Happy day!

How too totally cool! I'm a Brit and the Union Jack is like an old friend to me. I LOVE this checker board. Well done!

Your piece reminds me of vintage ones that you see in auctions. They have checkers on one side and something decorative on the other. Just instant-vintage in every way.

We have the sweetest Roxy bedding giveaway, $100 value and our Giveaway Friday! link up party. Please stop by. Jane F.

I, too, am obsessed with London. It started with a study Shakespeare in London during college, and I feel like I left my heart there.

I stumbled across your blog from Pinterest, as I was looking for bunting patterns, and I'm so happy to have found it!
