The Best Thing I Ate in Jackson, MS

It's no secret I love food. Each month, it seems the only things I cross off my to-do list have to do with food. (Okay, that's not fair--lots of other things happen, too. Like sleeping.)

When I went to visit my friend Megan and help make her Melbourne subway art, I asked only one thing in return: take me to Keifer's.

The day before I left for Jackson, chef Cat Cora was on The Food Network's The Best Thing I Ever Ate sharing her love for the gyro and cottage fries at Keifer's Restaurant. Oh boy, was she right.

I ordered a gyro and a side of cottage fries with their famous creamy feta dressing. Deeeelicious!

Look at that goodness! It makes me want to go back again very soon. It also makes me wish they'd open a Keifer's in Birmingham. I'd eat there morning, noon, and night.

Cottage fries: an entire potato sliced the length of the potato, then fried.

Oh daddy!

And then there was none.

Don't miss this spot if you're ever over Mississippi way.

Oh my! Love this entry! I lived in the Fondren area of Jackson while in college. My roommates and I ate at Keifer's so much. Seriously, like every other day. We even named our stray turned house cat Keifer in honor of our favorite eatery. haha.
