Hello! My name is ShannonAshley, of Sew Thrifty, and I was so excited when Kimberly asked me to do a guest post for Cupcake Carnival! My blog is about crafting on a budget and i love sewing, crafting, baking, and photography. Those pretty much sum up what my blog is about! I love taking inspiration from holidays to create handmade decorations and baked goods to use for that holiday. Below, I would like to share with you my Patriotic Cupcake Flags. These were made for memorial day funfetti cakes and will definitely be made again for the 4th of July! Enjoy and visit me if you would like!
Patriotic Cupcake Flags
Materials:
Hot glue gun
tooth picks
Blue stamp pad
Any patriotic rubber stamp that is semi-compact
(remember, this is for a cupcake)
Step one: Stamp the card stock with 24 of your rubber stamp. I purchased my stamp at my local Joann Fabrics. It is roughly 1 inch by two inches and looks awesome stamped in royal blue.:)
Step two: Cut out all of the stamps with a small white border.
Step three: pleat a 1/3 circle of red crepe paper by folding it onto itself and stable it in the corner. I stapled it twice to secure it in an 'X' formation.
Step four: Hot glue (carefully!) the stamp to one side, flip and repeat. Make sure to remember to place the toothpick approximately 1/4inch in.
Enjoy your new cupcake toppers!! They are soooo cute and in fact, my wonderful (male, 1 of 4) roommate actually said (sarcastically, i am sure) that they were
"exceptionally cute, cuter than Roy Halladay's perfect game" -Ed.
Have a WONDERFUL holiday and remember to remember the troops and not just the barbecues :-D
