The Big Sister That Brags

My little brother isn't so little. In fact, he's about 6 inches taller than me. But he's still my baby bubba.

William is a senior in high school this year. That means I'm on an emotional roller-coaster for the next few months.

("He shouldn't be this old! I don't know what happened!")

This past weekend was his last homecoming as a student in high school. (Tear.) So naturally, I loaded up and headed north to spend the weekend with him.

So no crafts today... just bragging.

William and his girlfriend before the homecoming parade. She was Miss Science Club. (Yes, I think that's weird too. I was miss French Club and Miss Future Community Leaders of American back in my day.)

William is in the marching band (just like his sister was) and is very involved in school activities (just like his sister was). He's been in the marching band since he was in 8th grade, so he's already marched in four homecoming parades. This year, he asked to ride with HOSA, a student health care organization he's a part of. (So unfortunately, no pictures of him marching in the parade.)

Think they are hot?? Poor guys, you're almost finished!

There he is! Riding on the HOSA float.

Lots of classes came back for reunions. For the record, this is the year my mother was born.

My aunt and uncle back for their 40th reunion. (40, right? Or am I adding some extra years?)

Each class decorates a float for homecoming. Then judges determine the "winner."

The freshmen put in some hard work on this float. Hang the Pirates!

Sophomores: Plow the Pirates!

Juniors: Sink the Pirates!

The homecoming queen, Miss Hannah Jackson. Beautiful!

And seniors: Plunge the Pirates! (Seniors won!)

After the parade, William was "so thirsty!" So we stopped at the local shaved ice stand for a yummy treat.

He was so over my taking pictures at this point.

Flash forward to warm-up. It's almost time to kick off, and the band is warming up for their pre-game show.

See him on the right?

Just finished the pre-game show! The yellow roses are for the seniors.

During halftime, senior band members, danceline, color guard, and cheerleaders are recognized. They come forward, and we all sing our alma mater. ("Scottsboro High School, listen to us..." How many of you still remember your alma mater?)

That's a lot of seniors!

Okay, now he's totally over my snapping pictures.

Saturday morning, we celebrated with a big breakfast at my grandparents.

Our (basically but not-by-blood) brother, Seamus, is on the right. He came home for the weekend as well.

So all this homecoming / football season love means just one thing: More football crafts this week! Then I promise I'll move onto Halloween.
